Grand Rapids, MI November 20, 2014 – For the fifth year in a row, The Salvation Army will be partnering with the West Michigan Sports Commission during the Yule Run, I’ll Walk Family Fun Event. The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services canteen will provide free hot chocolate and hot apple cider before, during and after the event. The Salvation Army Brass Band will also be on location, playing a selection of traditional Christmas carols. In addition, the race site has been established as an official “Angel Tree Program” donation site.

Grand Rapids, Mich., October 14, 2014 – Officials with the National Congress of State Games (NCSG) have announced that Grand Rapids, Mich. has been selected to host the 2017 State Games of America, pending contractual obligations by both parties.  The NCSG board heard presentations from four cities vying to host the pinnacle of more than 30 individual state game competitions while attending their Annual Symposium in Grand Rapids at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel October 13-15, 2014.

Grand Rapids, Mich., Jun. 18, 2014 – The Meijer State Games of Michigan’s fifth annual Summer Games are almost here. The Summer Games are taking place June 20–22, and will feature 39 different sports taking place in West Michigan with 7,000 athletes expected to participate. The schedule of events is finalized and the Meijer State Games are ready to bring the Olympic Summer Games experience to Michigan.
