New Wakeboard Competition and Skifly World-Record Attempt to Air Live on World of X Games on ABC; Tickets on Sale Now

The MasterCraft Throwdown on August 8 in Grand Rapids will feature the top athletes in wakeboarding and Skifly, capped by a performance by multi-platinum country music artist Kip Moore to complement the sports and entertainment lineup. The event, taking place at Millennium Park and created by ESPN X Games and MasterCraft Boats, will be featured in a 90-minute, live World of X Games special at 2:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Grand Rapids, Mich., June 3, 2015 – The 2015 edition of the Meijer State Games of Michigan – Summer Games will offer 43 sports and will host more than 7,500 athletes. This year, there are 44 different venues that will host a Meijer State Games event. The Meijer State Games of Michigan continues to add sports and events to its lineup, which allows individual of all ages and ability levels the opportunity to compete.

 

Grand Rapids, MI November 20, 2014 – For the fifth year in a row, The Salvation Army will be partnering with the West Michigan Sports Commission during the Yule Run, I’ll Walk Family Fun Event. The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services canteen will provide free hot chocolate and hot apple cider before, during and after the event. The Salvation Army Brass Band will also be on location, playing a selection of traditional Christmas carols. In addition, the race site has been established as an official “Angel Tree Program” donation site.

Grand Rapids, Mich., October 14, 2014 – Officials with the National Congress of State Games (NCSG) have announced that Grand Rapids, Mich. has been selected to host the 2017 State Games of America, pending contractual obligations by both parties.  The NCSG board heard presentations from four cities vying to host the pinnacle of more than 30 individual state game competitions while attending their Annual Symposium in Grand Rapids at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel October 13-15, 2014.
