What GMs from Detroit's big 3 sports say about their Grand Rapids affiliates

GRAND RAPIDS - Ken Holland, the general manager of the Detroit Red Wings, said he often deals with AHL free agents interested in playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins.
It's an easy sell, he said.
"When we talk to them or their agents - when they look at this city and this facility, it ranks right up there with any of them," Holland said Tuesday in a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Van Andel Arena.
Holland was joined by general managers Al Avila of the Detroit Tigers and Jeff Bower of the Detroit Pistons in an on-stage interview on the role the city plays with its minor league affiliates in developing talent and brand of the big three sports teams in Detroit.
